Description of project and customer issues

BlaBlaCar is a digital car-sharing platform that brings drivers and passengers together.

The company has 90 million users in 22 countries, making it the world leader in long-distance car-sharing services. Since 2019, BlaBlaCar's offering has been extended to include bus transport. The company's coach services carry 10 million passengers across Europe. This transport activity involves a fleet of up to 400 coaches, all owned and operated by subcontractors. Following a number of road accidents involving buses operating under the BlaBlaCar brand, the company decided to implement a proactive road risk management strategy.

Blablacar commissioned Aegide International to carry out a diagnostic of its road safety management procedures. This diagnosis enabled the company to identify significant gaps in its road safety management system. Using the results of this gap analysis, Aegide International was able to guide the client throughout the process of developing a corporate road safety strategy.

Project objective

The aim of this consultancy was to support Blablacar in implementing a risk-based approach to road safety in line with industry best practice.
